Back when Sony’s Betamax was a thing, I remember watching Arnold Schwarzenegger’s eyes bulge out from Mars’ atmosphere at the end of Total Recall circa 1990. This latest iteration, starring Colin Farrell, may be controversial for deviating from the original, but it still looks to hold sway over any science fiction fanatic longing for something tasty after this summer’s Alien could-be prequel, Prometheus.
In this department, we take a look at Hollywood’s latest new release films and grade them based on their Asian-American presence, or lack thereof. Most of the time we’re heartily disappointed, but sometimes we’re pleasantly surprised. So sit back, grab some popcorn (kettle corn for me) and enjoy this week’s Friday Features.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days
The third film in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, Dog Days follows the exploits of Greg as his summer vacation plans fall through. The original series was after my childhood days, but perhaps our readers know it? Sound off in the comments below and tell us about your own dog days of summer.

Celeste and Jesse are best friends – soul mates even. But it’s not until they move in together, get married and eventually try to separate that Celeste, at least, realizes the two can never really ever be apart. Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg star in this witty comedy about true love and relationships.
